CORPORATE CRIME – COLLATERAL DAMAGE

The top six corporate crimes of the past five years cost American investors, taxpayers and retirees more than $430 billion.  And just as importantly it cost over 175,000 Americans their jobs.

In addition to these six corporations, over 500 other corporations had criminal cases brought against them by the Federal and State Government.

Corporate Crime affects more people in America than any other crime. Corporate crime not only affects those directly involved, it also causes massive collateral damage.  It causes hundreds of thousands of innocent hard-working people within these companies to lose their jobs, their pensions and retirement.  And it impacts all the businesses frequented by these people; as their income is impacted, they necessarily spend less, thereby impacting other businesses. Furthermore, it causes millions of shareholders to lose billions of dollars - which in many cases represent their life savings and their hopes for a decent retirement.

Employees within an organization are always the first to suspect wrongdoing. In virtually every single incident of corporate crime, employees were aware of the violation and were afraid to report it.  Employees are reluctant to “blow the whistle” out of fear of reprisal and retaliation. These fears are well founded and have been documented countless times on national news programs.

The Sarbanes-Oxley legislation mandates that all public companies must have an internal whistle blowing process.  As well intentioned as this is, history has already shown that employees are reluctant to utilize any internal system for the obvious reason.  Additionally, Sarbanes-Oxley doesn't even cover non-public companies, which employ over 80% of all U.S. workers.

Finally, there is a way for any employee in any company in America to “blow the whistle” and remain truly anonymous.

"America's Whistle" a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization has been created to prevent Corporate Crime and save hundreds of thousands of jobs along with saving billions of dollars of investor money by providing a national whistle blower service. This allows any employee in any company in America the ability to anonymously call a toll free number where his or her concern will be dealt with by a staff of seasoned professionals.
